Amla and fenugreek hair pack

Soaked fenugreek seeds become slippery and conditioning, while amla powder is a traditional hair tonic. Together they make a simple pack for dull, dry hair.

Illustrated still life with fenugreek seeds, amla.

Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons fenugreek seeds (methi), soaked overnight
  • 2 tablespoons amla powder
  • 3–4 tablespoons fresh curd or water

How to prepare

  1. Grind the soaked fenugreek seeds into a smooth paste with a little of the soaking water.
  2. Mix in the amla powder and curd to a thick, spreadable paste.

How to use

  • Apply from roots to ends on slightly damp hair.
  • Leave for 20–30 minutes, then rinse thoroughly with plain water. A mild shampoo may be needed. Use once a week.

Precautions

  • Patch test first — some people are allergic to fenugreek.
  • Fenugreek has a strong smell; rinse well.
  • Hair loss with fatigue, weight change or irregular periods can have medical causes (thyroid, iron deficiency) — get it checked.
