Besan–turmeric ubtan for glowing skin
Ubtan is the traditional Indian cleansing paste used before festivals and weddings. Gram flour gently removes dirt and oil while turmeric and curd leave the skin soft.

Ingredients
- 2 tablespoons besan (gram flour)
- A small pinch of turmeric powder
- 1 tablespoon fresh curd, or raw milk for dry skin
- A few drops of rose water
How to prepare
- Mix the besan and turmeric in a clean bowl.
- Add curd (or milk) and rose water to make a smooth, spreadable paste.
How to use
- Apply a thin layer to a clean face and neck, avoiding the eyes.
- Leave for 10 minutes, then wet your fingers and rub off gently in circles. Rinse with plain water.
- Use 1–2 times a week.
Precautions
- Do a patch test on the inner arm 24 hours before first use.
- Too much turmeric can leave a yellow tint — a pinch is enough.
- Do not use on broken skin, active acne cysts, or rashes.
