Bhindi Water in the Morning

Two or three slit okra pods soaked overnight in a glass of water and sipped the next day. Soluble fibre, not a blood-sugar treatment, and never in place of prescribed medicine.

A glass of pale water with sliced okra soaking in it beside whole bhindi and a knife on a board.

Important: this remedy is only a supportive home measure. Keep taking any medicine your doctor has prescribed, monitor your readings, and consult your doctor before adding anything new.

Okra water: a viral drink, in perspective

Bhindi water is made by soaking slit okra in water overnight. The soaked water is slightly slippery with soluble fibre. It is a viral morning drink for blood sugar, but evidence in people is thin, and it is not a treatment. If you take diabetes medicine, keep taking it as prescribed.

Use fresh, clean okra, and wash it well. Do not use it to replace insulin or tablets. If you are on blood sugar medicine, sugar may fall further with a major diet change, so tell your doctor. Skip it if you are allergic to okra.
