Mashed Papaya and Honey Mask

Ripe papaya mashed with a drop of honey is a short mask used about once a week. It stays on for around ten minutes and is then rinsed off. It is not a peel and not a promise of brighter skin.

Kitchen still life of ripe papaya pieces and a small spoon of honey on a ceramic plate, with no people and no text.

About this papaya and honey face mask

A ripe papaya mashes into a soft pulp, and a drop of honey makes it a little easier to spread. This weekly mask is meant to sit for a short time and then come off. Papaya can tingle on some faces, so the first trial belongs on the arm, not on the cheeks.

Do not treat it like a salon peel, and do not leave it on until it dries hard. It does not brighten skin, remove tan, or clear blemishes. If the skin stings, wash it off at once and skip the next week.

Ingredients

  • 4 tablespoons ripe papaya
  • a drop of honey
  • a clean bowl for mashing the papaya

How to prepare

  1. Mash only the ripe papaya until it is smooth and free of hard lumps.
  2. Stir in a drop of honey. Do not turn the mask into a thick sweet paste.

How to use

  • Wash the face and pat it dry. Keep the mask off the eyes and the lips.
  • Spread a thin layer on intact skin and leave it for about ten minutes.
  • Rinse with plain water and pat dry. Use it about once a week, not daily.

Helpful habits

  • Choose papaya that is soft and ripe. Green papaya is harsher on the face.
  • Make only enough for one use. Leftover mash does not keep well.

Precautions

  • External use only. Do not eat this mask from the face, and keep it out of the eyes.
  • Patch test on the inner arm and wait a day. Papaya bothers some people.
  • Do not use it on broken, cut, or sunburnt skin. Rinse at once if it stings.
