One Seasonal Fruit, Eaten Whole

Eat one seasonal fruit a day, whole. Guava, ripe papaya, or a handful of pomegranate seeds are the examples. Not juice, and not a cleanse. Unripe papaya is not for pregnancy.

A whole guava, a few cubes of ripe papaya and a small bowl of pomegranate seeds on a steel plate, kitchen still life.

One seasonal fruit, whole rather than juiced

Pick one fruit that is actually in season and eat it with the peel when the peel is meant to be eaten, as with a washed guava. Ripe papaya is a few soft cubes. Pomegranate is a handful of seeds. The chewing is the point. A glass of juice from several fruits is sweeter, easier to overdrink, and not this habit.

One fruit does not detox the blood, cure anemia, or control diabetes. People who limit carbohydrate still count the fruit. Unripe papaya is not for pregnancy. Wash the outside, and skip fruit that is fermented or mouldy.

Ingredients

  • One guava, washed, if that is the fruit of the day
  • A few cubes of ripe papaya, if you choose papaya instead
  • A small handful of pomegranate seeds, if you choose anar instead

How to prepare

  1. Choose one fruit, not all three. Wash guava or the outside of papaya and pomegranate before cutting.
  2. Cut a modest portion: one guava, a small bowl of ripe papaya, or a handful of seeds.

How to use

  • Eat that one fruit at breakfast or in the afternoon, chewing it rather than drinking it.
  • Leave juice, mixers, and sugar syrups out of the glass.
  • On another day, pick whichever of the three is fresh. Still only one serving.

Helpful habits

  • Seasonal and ordinary beats an expensive imported bowl.
  • Cut papaya only when the flesh is soft and yellow-orange, which is the ripe fruit.

Precautions

  • Unripe papaya is not for pregnancy. This habit uses ripe fruit only.
  • Whole fruit is food, not a cleanse and not a treatment for blood, sugar, or the gut.
  • Stop if a fruit scratches the mouth or has mould. One fruit is not permission for a large juice fast.

Frequently asked questions

Why not juice the fruit?

The habit is one whole fruit. Juice is easy to overdrink and leaves out the chewing.

Can I eat guava, papaya, and pomegranate together?

Pick one serving a day. The three fruits are examples, not a pile to finish at once.

Is raw green papaya included?

No. Unripe papaya is not for pregnancy, and this page uses ripe fruit only.
