Bael in everyday Indian homes

Bael is a hard-shelled fruit with fragrant orange pulp, sacred to Shiva. Ayurveda uses the unripe fruit for loose stools and the ripe fruit as a cooling summer food.

Bael murabba is the fruit preserved in sugar syrup. In Ayurveda bael is linked with settling the bowels, and the murabba is a tasty way to have a little in summer. Its sugar content is high.
