Water Kept Overnight in a Clean Copper Vessel

Water stored overnight in a clean, shining copper vessel and sipped in the morning. Never lemon or acid juices in it; skip with Wilson's disease or sensitive stomachs.

Important: this remedy is only a supportive home measure. Keep taking any medicine your doctor has prescribed, monitor your readings, and consult your doctor before adding anything new.

An old habit with a few strict rules

Storing drinking water in a copper vessel overnight is a long-standing Indian habit, and studies show copper can reduce some germs in the water. Claims for weight loss, detox or thyroid are not proven. A little copper dissolves into the water, and too much can be harmful, so it must be done with care.

Keep the vessel clean and bright and use it only for plain water, never for lemon water, juice, buttermilk or anything acidic, which pull out too much copper. Fill it in the evening and drink it in the morning, up to about one glass, and do not store water in it for more than a day. Skip it with Wilson's disease, liver disease, a sensitive stomach, or in children and pregnancy unless your doctor says it is fine.
