Harad and mishri: a pinch of harad powder with one crystal after meals

Harad powder is strong in a small dose. After meals, take only a pinch with one crystal of mishri and a sip of water. It is not for pregnancy, and it is not a handful.

Why harad with mishri is only a pinch

Harad, or haritaki, is one of the three fruits in triphala and tastes dry and astringent on its own. A crystal of mishri takes that edge off so a pinch can be taken after a meal with water. The amount is a pinch you can see on a fingertip, not a spoon and not a handful from the jar.

This is sometimes used when a meal feels stuck and heavy. It is not for pregnancy. People who are nursing, very young, or already using laxatives should not add harad on their own. A handful can upset the stomach badly. Constipation with pain, bleeding, or a sudden change in habit needs a doctor.

Ingredients

  • A pinch of harad powder
  • One crystal of mishri
  • A sip of water

How to prepare

  1. Take only a pinch of harad powder on a spoon.
  2. Place one crystal of mishri beside it, ready to take with a sip of water.

How to use

  • After a meal, take the pinch of harad and the mishri crystal with a sip of water.
  • Do not repeat it after every snack the same day.
  • Keep the jar closed and dry. Do not leave moist powder in the spoon.

Helpful habits

  • If the powder tastes harsh, you still do not add more mishri by the spoon. One crystal is enough.
  • Buy harad from a shop you trust, and skip any powder that smells stale or damp.

Precautions

  • Use a pinch of harad powder with one crystal of mishri, after meals, with water.
  • This is not for pregnancy, and it is not a handful.
  • Do not stack it with other laxatives. See a doctor for pain, bleeding, or constipation that continues.
