Two soaked anjeer in the morning with the soaking water

Two dried figs, soaked overnight, are a gentle morning bite with the same soaking water. Anjeer stays food, not a large handful of dry fruit on an empty stomach.

Morning figs, soaked not dry

Dried figs are sweet and full of tiny seeds. Eaten dry in a rush they can feel tough. A night in water plumps them so the morning bowl is soft, and the soaking water carries some of that mild sweetness.

Ayurveda connects a dry, stuck feeling in the bowels with vata dryness. Soft soaked fruit may soothe that dryness as part of breakfast. It is not a substitute for a doctor if there is pain, bleeding or a sudden change in stools.

Ingredients

  • 2 dried figs
  • A small bowl of water
  • A spoon to eat the soaked figs

How to prepare

  1. Rinse two dried figs and cover them with water overnight.
  2. In the morning, eat the soft figs and sip the soaking water.

How to use

  • Take them in the morning, after you have been awake for a little while.
  • Stop at two. A plate of dried figs is a different, heavier snack.
  • Chew well, especially the seeds.

Helpful habits

  • If the figs are very dry, nick the tops before soaking so water gets in.
  • Use drinking water and keep the bowl covered overnight.

Precautions

  • Two is the serving. More dried fruit can feel heavy and overly sweet.
  • Rinse shop figs well. Discard any that smell fermented.
  • Supportive morning food only, not a substitute for a doctor.

Frequently asked questions

Can I eat them without soaking?

You can, but this remedy is the soaked fruit plus the soaking water, which is gentler in the morning.

Is the soaking water safe?

Sip the water you soaked them in overnight if it smells fresh. Do not drink water that sat for days.

Can I add milk?

Not for this habit. Keep it to dried figs and the soaking water.
