A Weekly Oat Scrub for the Body, Not the Face
Powdered oats mixed with a little water, rubbed gently on dry arms or legs once a week, then rinsed. Not for the face, not every day, and not on broken skin.

Once a week, on the body, with a light hand
Grind plain oats to a soft powder, mix with a spoon of water, and rub lightly on dry skin of the arms or legs. Rinse before it dries hard. Once a week is the limit on this page. The face has its own, gentler habits; do not use this scrub there. It does not bleach skin, remove scars, or treat eczema.
Patch test on the inner arm first. Stop if the skin turns red or sore. Do not scrub broken skin, a rash, or acne. Daily scrubbing is harsher than this remedy. Oats can still bother some people. If a rash spreads or the skin is infected, see a doctor.
Ingredients
- Two tablespoons of plain oats, ground
- A spoon of water
- No lemon and no sugar
How to prepare
- Grind the oats until they feel soft, not like sharp grit.
- Mix with water into a damp meal. If it feels scratchy, add water. Do not add lemon.
How to use
- Once a week, rub gently on dry arms or legs for under a minute.
- Rinse with lukewarm water and pat dry.
- Do not use it on the face or on broken skin.
Helpful habits
- If the powder draws blood or leaves red lines, it is too coarse. Throw that batch out.
- Moisturise after if your skin feels tight. The scrub is not the moisturiser.
Precautions
- Body only, once a week. Not the face.
- Patch test. Stop if it stings or reddens.
- Not on broken skin, rash, or acne. Not a bleach and not an eczema treatment.
Frequently asked questions
Can I scrub every day for faster results?
- No. Once a week is the limit here. Daily scrubbing is harsher, not better.
Can I add lemon to lighten the skin?
- No. Lemon does not belong in this scrub, and this page does not lighten skin.
My rash burns when I rub it. Should I press harder?
- No. Stop. Do not scrub a rash or broken skin. A spreading rash needs a doctor.
