A Bowl of Thin Masoor, with No Sugar
Masoor cooked thin with cumin, ginger and a drop of ghee, and with no sugar. One bowl is a meal. It does not replace diabetes medicine.

Important: this remedy is only a supportive home measure. Keep taking any medicine your doctor has prescribed, monitor your readings, and consult your doctor before adding anything new.
Thin dal as a meal, not a glucose drink
Red lentils cooked in plenty of water with cumin, ginger and turmeric, finished with a few drops of ghee, make a thin dal. Eat one bowl with a small portion of grain if your meal plan includes grain. There is no sugar in the pot and no sweet drink beside it. This does not treat diabetes.
Lentils can cause gas. Soak them if you have time, and cook them soft. If a doctor or dietitian has set portions, this bowl has to fit that portion. Do not skip medicine because lunch was dal. Shakiness or sweating means follow your low-sugar plan.

Frequently asked questions
Can I drink sweet masoor water for diabetes?
- No. This dal is savoury and thin, and it is not a diabetes treatment. Do not sweeten it.
Does this mean I can skip a tablet at lunch?
- No. Food does not cancel a prescribed dose. Take medicine as your doctor wrote it.
It gives me a lot of gas. Should I eat a bigger bowl?
- No. Stop or make the next bowl smaller. A bigger bowl is not gentler. Ongoing pain needs a doctor.
