A Weekly Warm Hair Oil Habit
Once a week, warm a little coconut oil or sesame oil and massage the scalp, then wash it out. Pick one oil. This is a hair habit, not a growth treatment.

A weekly warm oil for the scalp
Choose coconut oil or sesame oil, not a large mix of both. Warm a spoon or two until it feels gentle on the wrist, part the hair, and rub the scalp with the fingertips. An hour later, or the next morning if that is your house rhythm, wash it out so dust does not sit in the oil.
The habit is once a week. It does not regrow hair, cure dandruff as a disease, or fix hormones. Skip a scalp that is cut, infected, or full of boils. If oil gives you forehead pimples, use less and keep it off the hairline, or stop.
Ingredients
- Coconut oil, if that is the oil you choose this week
- Sesame oil, if you choose sesame instead
- A small pan or bowl to warm whichever oil you picked
How to prepare
- Pick one oil, coconut or sesame, and warm a small amount until it is pleasant on the wrist.
- Section the hair so the oil reaches the scalp rather than only the ends.
How to use
- Massage the warm oil into the scalp once a week with the fingertips, not the nails.
- Keep it out of the eyes and off the pillow by using an old cotton cloth if you lie down.
- Wash it out the same day or the next morning with your usual mild shampoo.
Helpful habits
- A spoon is enough. A cup poured on the head is harder to wash and not more useful.
- If the oil smells stale, do not heat it anyway. Start with fresh oil.
Precautions
- This does not treat hair loss, dandruff disease, or scalp infection.
- Do not oil cuts, boils, or a scalp that stings. Stop if the skin turns red.
- Warm means comfortable. Hot oil burns. Keep it away from children who might pull the pan.
Frequently asked questions
Coconut oil or sesame oil?
- Either one, once a week. This guide does not ask you to mix a large amount of both.
Will weekly oil regrow hair?
- No. It is a scalp habit followed by a wash, not a growth treatment.
Can the oil stay on for days?
- No. Wash it out the same day or the next morning so dust does not sit in it.
