Dhania Seed Water and Blood Pressure: What to Know

Coriander seed water is a popular home drink for BP. What is known, how to make it, and why it is only a small part of a BP plan.

Illustrated still life with coriander seeds.

Important: this remedy is only a supportive home measure. Keep taking any medicine your doctor has prescribed, monitor your readings, and consult your doctor before adding anything new.

Why dhania is used this way

Dhania (coriander) seeds and leaves are mild and cooling. Seed water is a traditional summer drink for heat and acidity, and fresh leaves go into chutneys.

Coriander seeds have shown mild diuretic and BP-lowering effects in animal studies, and the drink is a traditional cooling tonic. Human evidence is lacking. As a sugar-free, salt-free drink, it can replace sweetened beverages, which does help.
