Nalangu Maavu, a Traditional Moong-Turmeric Bath Powder
A mild bath powder of green gram flour, turmeric and dried rose petals used instead of soap before the Diwali oil bath. Patch test and skip on broken skin.

A bath powder from the kitchen
Nalangu maavu is a traditional South Indian bath powder made from green gram flour with a little turmeric and dried rose petals. It is used instead of soap as a soft cleanser, especially before the Diwali oil bath.
Mix a spoon of the powder with water or milk into a loose paste and rub gently on damp skin before rinsing. Make a small batch at home and keep it dry. This is a traditional cleansing habit and not a treatment for skin conditions.
