Important: this remedy is only a supportive home measure. Keep taking any medicine your doctor has prescribed, monitor your readings, and consult your doctor before adding anything new.
Suva, a cousin of fennel
Suva, or dill seed, is a cousin of saunf and ajwain, used in Indian kitchens and in the traditional mixtures given to ease gas after a meal. Its water has a mild, slightly sweet flavour. It is a comforting drink and not a treatment for indigestion, colic or any condition.
Lightly crush half a teaspoon of seeds, pour a cup of hot water over them and steep for ten minutes, then strain and sip warm after a meal. Use it for a few days at a time. Skip it in pregnancy without your doctor, and do not give it to babies or young children. Stop if you notice a rash or stomach upset.
