Ashwagandha milk for stressful days

Ashwagandha is Ayurveda's best-known adaptogenic herb, traditionally used to support strength and a calm mind. It is classically taken in warm milk at night.

Ingredients

  • ¼–½ teaspoon ashwagandha root powder from a trusted, tested brand
  • 1 cup warm milk (or plant milk)
  • A pinch of cardamom; a little jaggery (optional)

How to prepare

  1. Stir the ashwagandha powder into warm milk and simmer for 2 minutes.
  2. Add cardamom and a little jaggery if you like.

How to use

  • Drink in the evening, for a few weeks at a time.
  • Start with the smaller amount and speak to an Ayurvedic practitioner before longer use.

Precautions

  • Avoid during pregnancy and breastfeeding.
  • Not advised if you have thyroid disorders, autoimmune conditions, liver problems, or are taking sedatives, thyroid, BP or diabetes medicine — unless your doctor agrees.
  • Stop and seek advice if you notice stomach upset, drowsiness during the day, or any unusual symptoms.
