Giloy, Tulsi and Ginger Kadha for a Short Course
A small cup of giloy stem kadha with tulsi and ginger during a seasonal change, for five to seven days only, not as a daily habit.

Important: this remedy is only a supportive home measure. Keep taking any medicine your doctor has prescribed, monitor your readings, and consult your doctor before adding anything new.
Why giloy is used this way
Giloy (guduchi) is a climbing vine whose stem is boiled into kadha. It became very popular after 2020, and doctors have since reported liver problems in some people taking it for long periods or in strong doses.
This kadha was hugely popular during the pandemic. Used briefly, it is a traditional seasonal ritual. Because long daily giloy use has been linked with liver injury, keep it to a week and talk to a doctor if you have any chronic illness.
Ingredients
- A 3-inch piece of fresh giloy stem (or 1 tsp dried)
- 5 to 6 tulsi leaves
- ½-inch ginger
- 2 cups water
How to prepare
- Crush the giloy stem and ginger.
- Simmer with tulsi in water until it reduces to one cup; strain.
How to use
- Drink half a cup warm in the morning for five to seven days.
- Then stop for at least a few weeks.
Helpful habits
- Use stem from a known source; giloy is sometimes confused with look-alike vines.
Precautions
- Stop at once if you notice yellow eyes, dark urine or itching.
- Do not take daily for weeks without a doctor; long courses have been linked to liver injury in some people.
- Avoid in pregnancy, autoimmune disease and with diabetes medicine unless a doctor advises.
- A home remedy, not a treatment. See a doctor if symptoms last more than a few days or get worse.
