Shilajit for stamina: traditional use, research and a daily routine
How shilajit is traditionally used to support stamina and endurance, what research suggests and a simple routine with food, sleep and movement.

Published 7 October 2026 · 3 min read
Stamina is one of the main reasons people try shilajit. In Ayurveda it is valued as a rasayana for bala — physical strength and endurance.
Traditional view
Shilajit is described as warming and nourishing for the dhatus (body tissues). It is traditionally taken in the morning with warm milk by people who do physical work, walk long distances or tire easily.
What research suggests
A small study in active men found purified shilajit (500 mg a day for 8 weeks) helped keep muscle strength after a tiring exercise test. Animal studies suggest effects on energy use in cells (mitochondria). Human evidence is still limited, so think of it as a possible support, not a performance drug.
A simple stamina routine
- Morning: a pea-sized piece of shilajit in warm milk or water after a light breakfast.
- Food: enough protein (dal, paneer, eggs, curd), seasonal fruit and whole grains.
- Movement: brisk walking or exercise most days; build up slowly.
- Sleep: 7–8 hours. No supplement makes up for poor sleep.
- Water: drink plenty, especially in summer.
Please read: no cure or guarantee claims
Shilajit is a traditional Ayurvedic supplement. It is not a treatment for erectile dysfunction, infertility, low testosterone or any sexual disorder, and no product can promise instant or guaranteed results. Ongoing sexual-health concerns can be an early sign of diabetes, heart or hormone problems, so please see a doctor.
How to take shilajit (general guide)
- Take a rice-grain to pea-sized piece of resin (about 300–500 mg) once a day, or follow your label dose.
- Dissolve it in a cup of warm (not boiling) water or milk and stir for a minute or two.
- Most people take it in the morning, after a light breakfast.
- Start low in the first week and stop if it does not suit you.
- Always use a clean, dry spoon so moisture does not get into the jar.
